San Marco, New Neighbourhood, New Experiences

My new Venezia experience has started. The contact for the apartment is Elisa. She touched base with me several times to ensure that she was there to meet me at the Giglio waterbus dock and… she was there waiting for me when I arrived. I told her I was studying Italian so she spoke to me in Italian. She showed me around the apartment and I have to say I feel like I am in a different city. I can see the red tile roofs across the small canal and it almost feels like I am in Spain… except, I can hear the music and singing from the Gondolas below… How wonderful is that!

I’ve attached a photo slide for your viewing pleasure. The apartment sleeps a maximum of 4 people. It has a kitchenette with oven and electric stove, fridge with freezer and a microwave. There are 2 bathrooms one with a shower and a washing machine and the other with an enormous tub… I’ve already indulged in a coconut bubble bath. The living room area has two large windows with a view of a small canal below. There was coffee, sugar and a fresh container of milk for the coffee in the morning and they put out a little basket of packaged cookies and miniature dried bread with marmalade…. and the Wifi is free!

I went to unpack my suitcase and realized that I had left the key to the lock at home. I managed to pry the lock open with a corkscrew but the procedure must have taken at least 30 minutes… After unpacking I decided to go and pick up some groceries…but made a stop at the Splendid hotel lounge to visit my friend. 2 Spritzes later and I was on my way. Really did not need that second Spritz… The Co-op grocery store was packed but I managed to get what I needed and get out.

I did blow the power whilst cooking dinner, but luckily for me I knew to ask where the fuse box is located because it is quite common for this to happen…. Well common to me I guess because it has happened 3 times now in different apartments.

Today was molto tranquillo… I started my project but I found it to be a bit harder than I imagined… maybe I will have better luck tomorrow…    from Venezia, Ciao for Now!
